United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Minnesota got its start in 1953 by a group of parents looking for a better life for their children affected by cerebral palsy.

UCP of Minnesota is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the residents of Minnesota in all counties except Stearns, Benton and Sherburne counties.  These counties receive services from UCP of Central Minnesota.

The focus of UCP of Minnesota is information and referral, providing augmentative and alternative communication devices through our MATLN Program (Minnesota Assistive Technology Loan Network), public policy and advocacy and providing education for people with cerebral palsy and their families.

UCP of Minnesota is a proud member of Community Health Charities Minnesota (CHCM) through workplace giving.  CHCM is an alliance of leading nonprofit health research and service organizations whose mission is to improve lives affected by chronic illness by investing in health research, services and education.

In February 2011, UCP of Minnesota was reviewed by Charities Review Council, an independent organization that researches and reviews nonprofits in order to help Minnesota donors make informed giving decisions.  Organizations are evaluated against a set of accountability standards in four areas:  public disclosure, good governance, healthy financial activity and ethical fundraising.  We are proud to state that UCP of Minnesota meets all 27-standards of the Charities Review Council Accountability Standards!  Although the Council does not endorse or disapprove of any organization, its standards are generally accept baseline indicators of accountable, ethical and healthy organizations, and the Council encourages donors to support charities that meet its standards.
